5. Analytics and advertising

5.1 Google Analytics

This website uses functions of the web analytics service Google Analytics 4 ("Google Analytics"). The provider is Google Ireland Limited, Google Building Gordon House, 4 Barrow St, Dublin, D04 E5W5, Ireland ("Google"). Google Analytics uses so-called "cookies". These are text files that are stored on your computer and that allow an analysis of how you use the website. The information generated by the cookie about your use of this website is usually transmitted to a Google server in the USA and stored there.

We only use this tool if you have previously given us your consent via the cookie banner. The legal basis is Sec. 6 (1) (f) GDPR. You can revoke this consent at any time with effect for the future by adjusting your cookie settings under privacy settings.

For more information about how Google Analytics handles user data, see Google's privacy policy: https://support.google.com/analytics/answer/6004245?hl=en

During your website visit, your user behavior is recorded in the form of "events". Events can be:

  • Page views
  • First visit to the website
  • Start of session
  • Your "click path", interaction with the website
  • Scrolls (whenever a user scrolls to the bottom of the page (90%))
  • Clicks on external links
  • Internal search queries
  • Interaction with videos
  • File downloads
  • Seen / clicked ads
  • Language setting

Also recorded:

  • Your approximate location (region)
  • Your IP address (in shortened form)
  • Technical information about your browser and the end devices you use (e.g. language setting, screen resolution)
  • Your internet service provider
  • The referrer URL (via which website/advertising medium you came to this website)

5.1.1 Recipients of the data

In order to analyze the use of the website, Google may transmit your IP address to Google LLC, 1600 Amphitheatre Parkway Mountain View, CA 94043, USA and Alphabet Inc, 1600 Amphitheatre Parkway Mountain View, CA 94043, USA.

These companies are based in the USA. The level of data protection in the USA has not been recognized as equivalent to that in the EU. In this context, US authorities may also have access to your IP address.

Your IP address will therefore be shortened by Google within a member state of the European Union or in other contracting states of the Agreement on the European Economic Area before being transmitted to the USA. Only in exceptional cases will the full IP address be transmitted to a Google server in the USA and shortened there. In addition, we have concluded the EU standard contractual clauses with Google to ensure an appropriate level of data protection.

5.1.2 Purpose of data processing and storage period

Google will use this information on behalf of the operator of this website to evaluate your use of the website, to compile reports on website activity, and to provide other services regarding website activity and Internet usage for the website operator. This evaluation enables us to improve our website on the basis of the information about how it is being used, in order to adapt it to your needs and to make it more user friendly. The IP address transmitted by your browser as part of Google Analytics will not be merged with any other data held by Google.
The data will be deleted as soon as they are no longer needed for the processing purposes.

5.1.3 Option to disable Google-Analytics

You can prevent these cookies being stored by selecting the appropriate settings in your browser. However, we wish to point out that doing so may mean you will not be able to enjoy the full functionality of this website. You can also prevent the data generated by cookies about your use of the website (incl. your IP address) from being passed to Google, and the processing of these data by Google, by downloading and installing the browser plugin available at the following link: https://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout?hl=en.

5.1.4 Demographic data by Google Analytics

This website uses Google Analytics' demographic features. This allows reports to be generated containing statements about the age, gender, and interests of site visitors. This data comes from interest-based advertising from Google and third-party visitor data. This collected data cannot be attributed to any specific individual person. You can disable this feature at any time by adjusting the ads settings in your Google account or you can forbid the collection of your data by Google Analytics as described in the section above ("Option to disable Google-Analytics”)

5.2 Google Analytics Remarketing

Our websites use the features of Google Analytics Remarketing combined with the cross-device capabilities of Google AdWords and DoubleClick. This service is provided by Google Inc., 1600 Amphitheater Parkway, Mountain View, CA 94043, USA. This feature makes it possible to link target audiences for promotional marketing created with Google Analytics Remarketing to the cross-device capabilities of Google AdWords and Google DoubleClick. This allows personalized advertising, which is based on your previous usage and surfing behavior on some device (e.g. mobile phone), to be displayed on other devices (such as a tablet or computer). Once you have given your consent, Google will associate your web and app browsing history with your Google Account for this purpose. That way, if you sign in to your Google Account on any device, it can display the same personalized promotional messaging. To support this feature, Google Analytics collects Google-authenticated IDs of users that are temporarily linked to our Google Analytics data to define and create audiences for cross-device ad promotion. You can permanently opt out of cross-device remarketing/targeting by turning off personalized advertising in your Google Account; follow this link: https://www.google.com/settings/ads/onweb/

We only use this tool if you have previously given us your consent via the cookie banner by agreeing to "Google Analytics" ("Google Analytics Remarketing" and "Google Analytics" are technically linked cookies that are always switched active or inactive together). You can revoke this consent at any time with effect for the future by adjusting your cookie settings under privacy settings.

For more information and the Google Privacy Policy, go to: https://www.google.com/policies/technologies/ads/.

5.3 Google AdWords and Google Conversion-Tracking

This website uses Google AdWords. AdWords is an online advertising program from Google Inc., 1600 Amphitheater Parkway, Mountain View, CA 94043, United States ("Google"). As part of Google AdWords, we use so-called conversion tracking. When you click on a Mr.Lodge-ad served by Google, a conversion tracking cookie is set. Cookies are small text files that your internet browser stores on your computer. These cookies expire at the latest after 120 days. Should you visit certain pages of this website and the cookie has not yet expired, Google and we can tell that you clicked on the Mr.Lodge-ad and were redirected to the Mr.Lodge website. Each Google AdWords advertiser has a different cookie. Thus, cookies cannot be tracked using the website of an AdWords advertiser. The information collected through the conversion cookie is used to generate conversion statistics for us. This tells us how many users clicked on our ad and were directed to a page with a conversion tracking tag. However, we do not receive any information that can be used to identify you.

If you do not wish to participate in tracking, you can opt out of this by turning off the Google Conversion Tracking cookie in your browser settings or by turning of tracking at https://www.google.de/settings/ads. You will then not be included in the conversion statistics.

We only use this tool if you have previously given us your consent via the cookie banner. The legal basis is Sec. 6 (1) (f) GDPR. You can revoke this consent at any time with effect for the future by adjusting your cookie settings under privacy settings.

For more information about Google AdWords and Google Conversion Tracking, see the Google Privacy Policy: https://www.google.de/policies/privacy/

You can configure your browser to inform you about the cooky setting so that you can decide on a case-by-case basis whether to accept or reject a cookie. Alternatively, your browser can be configured to reject cookies under certain conditions, or to always reject them, or to automatically delete cookies when closing your browser. Disabling cookies may limit the functionality of this website.

5.4 Google reCAPTCHA

We use "Google reCAPTCHA" (hereinafter "reCAPTCHA") on our websites. This service is provided by Google Inc., 1600 Amphitheater Parkway, Mountain View, CA 94043, USA ("Google"). reCAPTCHA is used to check whether the data entered on our website (such as on a contact form) has been entered by a human or by an automated program. To do this, reCAPTCHA analyzes the behavior of the website visitor based on various characteristics. This analysis starts automatically as soon as the website visitor enters the website. For the analysis, reCAPTCHA evaluates various information (e.g. IP address, how long the visitor has been on the website, or mouse movements made by the user). The data collected during the analysis will be forwarded to Google. This data will not be merged with further personal data stored by Google. Google uses the obtained data to improve its own products, such as Google Book and Google Street View.

We only use this tool if you have previously given us your consent via the cookie banner. The legal basis is Sec. 6 (1) (f) GDPR. You can revoke this consent at any time with effect for the future by adjusting your cookie settings under privacy settings.

Mailingwork uses this data to send and evaluate the newsletters exclusively on our behalf, but not for its own purposes. There is a data processing agreement between Mailingwork and Mr. Lodge GmbH, which obliges Mailingwork to comprehensively protect your personal data from unauthorized access and to process your data in accordance with the German Data Protection Act (GDPR). In addition, Mailingwork has been certified as a reputable email marketing service provider by the Certified Senders Alliance.

Our newsletters sent with Mailingwork allow us to analyze the behavior of newsletter recipients. Among other things, we can analyze how many recipients opened the newsletter message and how often which link in the newsletter was clicked. With the help of so-called conversion tracking, it can also be analyzed whether a predefined action (e.g. your search query on our website) has taken place after clicking on a link in the newsletter. For more information about data analysis through our Mailingwork newsletter, please visit: https://www.mailingwork.de/datenschutzerklärung

The dispatch of the newsletter and the data processing by Mailingwork is carried out to protect our legitimate interest in direct advertising to our existing customers. The legal basis is Sec. 6 ss. 1 lit. f) GDPR. You can unsubscribe from the newsletter at any time, by clicking on the "unsubscribe" link provided for this purpose in each newsletter, or by sending us a message using the contact details provided above in Sec. 1 of this Privacy Statement. If you do not want any analysis by Mailingwork, you must unsubscribe from the newsletter. Your name and email address will be deleted from Mailingwork's servers after you unsubscribe from the newsletter. The lawfulness of the data processing operations already carried out remains unaffected by the unsubscription.  For more details, please refer to Mailingwork's privacy policy at: https://www.mailingwork.de/datenschutzerklärung

5.6 Website analysis with Matomo

5.6.1

In order to regularly improve our website and align it with your requirements and needs, we use the website analysis tool “Matomo”. For this purpose, Matomo evaluates your usage behavior on the website and creates reports and statistics for us. We use Matomo in the cloud variant. Matomo is a service provided by InnoCraft Ltd., 7 Waterloo Quay, PO Box 625, 6140 Wellington, New Zealand (“Innocraft“). Your data is stored on servers located in the European Union. In addition, the European Union has recognized the level of data protection in New Zealand as comparable to that in the European Union.

5.6.2

Matomo records your usage behavior on our website using the so-called config_id. The config_id is a string calculated for each visitor based on their operating system, browser, browser plugins, IP address and browser language. Matomo uses the data which your end device transmits to our server for technical reasons when you call up the page. There is no access to data stored in your end device. With the config_id, Matomo summarizes various actions of website visitors in a short time window of up to 24 hours. After 24 hours at the latest, the config_id loses its validity.

In some cases, however, Matomo requires cookies to be set. These are purely functional and do not collect any personal data. They serve only to increase the security and privacy of users.

The essential cookies and the reasons for which they can be set are:

  • piwik_ignore
When choosing the op-out method under 5.6.3, Matomo creates the piwik_ignore cookie, so that Matomo will not analyse your further visits to our website.
  • MATOMO_SESSID
MATOMO_SESSID is a temporary, short-lived cookie that provides a Nonce – basically a random number – to prevent security problems while you exclude tracking under 5.6.3.
  • _pk_testcookie
The _pk_testcookie is used only to check whether your browser supports cookies and is created without identifier and deleted directly.

5.6.3

If you do not wish to be included in the website analysis you can prevent this by deselecting the following checkbox:

5.6.4

We use Matomo to protect our legitimate interest in aligning the design of the website with your needs. The legal basis is Sec. 6 (1) (f) GDPR.

Facebook may use this data, among other things, to show you further offers about our services on the Facebook pages as well, or to link it with other data that may be available at Facebook and to use this enriched information for its own advertising purposes, or to make it available to Facebook customers for the display of further advertising material. Information on data protection at Facebook can be found at the following link: Meta Privacy Policy - How Meta collects and uses user data

Only when you play the videos will data be transferred to YouTube. We have no influence on this data transfer.

If you visit one of our pages featuring a YouTube plugin, a connection to the YouTube servers is established. Here the YouTube server is informed about which of our pages you have visited. This is independent of whether you have a YouTube account or not. If you are logged in to your YouTube account, you enable YouTube to assign your browsing behavior directly to your personal profile. You can prevent this by logging out of your Youtube account.

Youtube stores your data as user profiles and uses them for the purposes of advertising, market and/or tailoring its website to suit your needs.
